Considering an in person LIVE Pan African talk event

With the growth of the platform and the many events of recent months from the Sahel to the diaspora, I’ve been having a thought.

Should I do an in person Pan African event and if so what city should it be in?

The idea would be for me to do a TED style talk, open Q&A and then workshops with the topics focused on affairs of Africa and the diaspora.

I will also be signing exclusive copies of a new release that will be revealed on Juneteenth courtesy of The IIIH.

The title I am considering for the event is THE BRIDGE: Africa to the Diaspora

To build a closer connection between Africa and the diaspora.

There would also be traditional African food served during the intermission with the netire event lasting 4-5 hours 10am - 3pm.

There would also be an in person IIIH dinner meeting following the event at a nearby venue depending on how many IIIH members choose to go to the event.

I posted some videos about this and they were such a hit I am now doing a poll to see if this is a good or bad idea. I figured the cost of renting a space, catering, security, transport and accomodation would mean I’d need to sell enough tickets to make this affordable as I don’t want to divert The IIIH (300) funds towards this as we have our own projects to focus on for the community.

Vote above for the cities and I will consider the top 2-3.

Also vote for the ticket price you’d feel is most appropriate. I don’t want this to be a money making venture but the two main criteria is to cover the cost of putting on the event and then to price it high enough to prevent disruptive people that are not there for the right reasons.

This event will pre sell tickets to hit the threshold. If we do not sell enough then it will not go forward. If I do this I want to do it right. Now over to you.
