I analyse the United Nations’ insulting offer of a permanent Security Council seat for Africa without veto power, viewing it as a desperate move to counter the continent’s shift toward BRICS. I also contrast the US strategy of imposing tariffs on African goods with China’s zero-tariff offer, arguing that Africa must prioritise economic partnerships that allow us to industrialise rather than chase symbolic political seats.
