A Great Voice of Africa is DEAD but we are NOT
A reflection on the lessons learned from the demise of one of the biggest online Pan-African news platforms
Make sure to read to the end for a special invitation.
Alkebulanians,
One of the biggest Pan-African news platforms has been wiped out of existence
African Stream is dead.
Deplatformed, demonetised on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and finally X.
All because they were accused of working for Russia. No proof. Just an accusation.
Without revenue from those platforms, they couldn’t survive. And just like that, a platform loved by millions of Africans around the world is gone.
It’s tragic but their demise highlighted an important lesson
You have no power if you don’t control the platform, the pipeline, or your voice.
As anyone who follows my platform knows, I don’t whine or complain. I believe in identifying a problem, informing my community of it and then presenting a solution
And I have one for this.
PAY ATTENTION
At the start of this year, when I posted my state of the African Union video. You can see it below if you missed it or you’re a new subscriber.
Since then, Kenya has erupted in revolution.
The global diaspora community rallied behind Captain Traore and Burkina Faso.
He, along with Goita and Tchiani, declared that Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger will never return to ECOWAS, doubling down on their Sahel Alliance
Those three men figured it out. The key to African salvation is not complicated.
Our education, our information, our identity, our narrative, cannot survive if filtered through platforms we don’t own.
If we don’t have true autonomy financially and creatively.
So I stepped away from the algorithm, hoping a video might go viral to generate enough ad revenue to keep educating you on Africa’s true history.
Instead, I turned to you, not as fans or followers but as partners.
I created IIIH (THE 300).
Three hundred of my most dedicated audience to meet once a quarter.
Contribute a minimum of $100 or as much over that as you wish to pledge on a quarterly basis. Vote on the project they want me to make for the community and then I go and build it.
No subscriptions. Just integrity.
Three months ago, we had our first meeting.
Now, I am pleased to announce the Q1 project is complete.
And on Sunday, July 27th at 12PM Eastern, we’re hosting our first official online presentation.
The 300 has agreed to open 250 event invitations to the wider community.
If you applied before and didn’t follow through, you will not be admitted.
If you’re serious about getting involved in this group, click the button below to request an invitation to the presentation of our first completed project now.
