These brands should be on my street corners for us to buy, unfortunately I am not seeing any of these products. I live in Southern Nigeria.

I need to see Ghanian Chocolate here.

Hey Merc,

The other day I was at my local grocery store in Nairobi and I bumped into a brand of Olive Oil which is from Tunisia. I wondered if Tunisia produced Olive Oil and so I went on to Google and Bam! I was shocked that she is the world's third-largest olive oil exporter and the FIRST outside of the E.U. I also learnt that there is an Olive Oil Revolution quietly brewing in Tunisia as a group of artisan producers is pressing for change over decades of exploitation. I immediately thought about you man! I wondered if you could do a piece on this?

I was so proud of Tunisia and her olive oil that I went on to buy two bottles because I believe we need to buy from Africa and build our own. I know most people out here, just like me, assume that the world's olive oil comes from Italy, Spain or Greece. We have no idea about our own, Tunisia. The saddest bit is that most labels of olive oils will lead us to believe the oil is 100% Italian but if you inspect the fine print you will possibly see the oil has been pressed in Italy but Produced Outside of the European Union. It will not even mention the country, Tunisia. And that's if the bottle specify that distinction at all.

That’s wholesome to read as I am Tunisian.

Yes, they get the olive oil from us, they put it in fancy packaging and then label it as “made it Italy” then they get rewards of the best olive oil... same goes for tuna, salt and endless resources.

France forces us to sell our resources for literally nothing (due to independence agreements) and they even have the right to refuse to buy from us and we can’t sell our goods to anyone else.

Hey Merc, why is fairafric in here? Isn't that a company which was started and owned by a German Start-Up-Guy? Would be happy to get your thoughts on it and I am happy to share our small research to fairafric with you! best! Chris (herrwig@epiz-goettingen.de)
