The UK riots are no surprise to anyone who knows history
Xenophobia and racial tension are the natural results of an empire built on exploitation and misinformation
The UK is burning and there is chaos in the streets. I remember the 2011 London riots and this is worse. It’s nationwide and has lasted longer. What is unique about these riots is that the perpetrators are mostly white, the demographic that typically accused black and African youth of being violent thugs who loot whenever they get the opportunity to do so. That was the narrative when London had its unrest over a decade ago.
One of the funniest comments I’ve heard about why the current rioters and looters are white is that they learnt it from black people. I’m not joking. That is an actual narrative out there as an excuse for why there are multiple videos online showing white people raiding stores and stealing goods. Some are saying we taught them how to do it. The level of delusion is incredible.
Anyway, in this article, I’m going to give you an analysis of what caused this situation, the historical context as it pertains to us Africans, the hypocrisy in the reaction and why no one should be surprised about what is going on. This really is only the beginning.
