I’m sure many of my readers have seen the movie The Woman King. As such, the legendary exploits of the Mino, an extraordinary all-female military regiment that served the Kingdom of Dahomey, in what is now present-day Benin won’t be new to you.
I intend to do a comprehensive analysis of that film in the future as I have many thoughts about it and what it represents. The reception from audiences when it was released was interesting and definitely warrants a closer investigation. However, who were these female African warriors?
