Spanning from 1585 to 1889, the Luba Empire in central Africa was founded on the principles of divine kingship, featuring complex political institutions and a rich system of art and mythology used to validate the king's authority. This is a place I'd never heard of and isn't referenced much in discourse o ancient African history. It's great to cover all parts of the continent and the more obscure stories of our ancestors.
