You’ve probably heard that civilisation began in Mesopotamia. That the first organised societies, kings, governments, and power structures rose somewhere between the Tigris and Euphrates. That’s the version taught in nearly every school across the world and most people never question it.

But once you start looking deeper, you realise something important is missing because long before Mesopotamia ever built a city, a kingdom was already thriving in Africa. And it’s not a myth or a theory.

It’s one of the most well-documented early states in human history. Strange that in spite of this, it’s rarely talked about in open discourse.
