my platform blew up and so did the hate
Why African knowledge and self awareness is always an issue to the establishment
About two months ago, my platforms blew up. I’m talking increases of 100,000 new subscribers in just five weeks on YouTube, 50,000 on instagram, 20,000 on TikTok and over 1000 new subscribers on Substack. As this happened, I started noticing something.
It wasn’t just the growth. It was the shift in energy.
In the early days of my platform, everything was great when I was under 10K on YouTube. I was essentially invisible. But once I started posting videos like The True Name of Africa, The True Size of Africa, The True First Kingdom, The True Origin of Egypt about how the map of Africa is flipped upside down... that’s when the pushback started coming hard. And I mean from people who are neither black nor African.
PAY ATTENTION
If it wasn't the customary watermelon, monkey, banana or 'we wuz kangz' comments and DM's, I was being accused of lying, making things up or most hilariously 'stealing history.'
People I’ve never met demanding citations, mocking the titles, flooding the comments with fake concern. "Stop lying to black people"
I had to stop and ask myself…what’s really going on here?
Well that's what we're going to start talking about today and we will keep this convo going for weeks and months to come as we continue to build something for ourselves.
We can't expect anyone else to educate us on our true history and most definitely not those that destroyed and burned it in the first place.
These weren’t political videos. I wasn’t even talking about colonialism, slavery, the West, none of that. I was just putting the spotlight on true African history. Specifically things few have ever been taught.
I was talking about our greatness. Our origins. Our presence. That’s it.
No shots fired. Just truth. In fact many details are in western logs and archives if you know where to look for it. Yet somehow, that was the trigger.
The pattern became clear real quick.
If I post a video about African suffering, no one outside our community says a word. The dialogue is confined to black and African people on my message threads.
But the moment I post something that says, “Hey, we did this. We had this. We built this,” people start losing their minds. Especially if it removes involvement of Europeans in narratives that used to centre them.
The reaction tells me everything I need to know.
It’s not about accuracy. It’s not about fact-checking.
It’s about control.
Because when you’ve been fed a lie for generations, a lie that makes you feel big because someone else looks small, then truth starts to feel like an attack.
I'll give you an example from an article I wrote a while ago now in the premium archive.
The Mercator projection, the map most of us grew up on.
It shrinks Africa. It places Europe up top. It warps scale so drastically that Greenland looks the same size as Africa when, in reality, Africa is over 14 times bigger.
That was never neutral. That was never just geography. That was psychology.
Or take the fact that entire African civilizations like Kush, Axum, and Carthage are either erased or rebranded in schoolbooks. Or that the British literally stole thousands of Benin Bronzes in 1897 and set the palace on fire and those same people now ask us to “prove” our history using their libraries.
It's crazy.
So when someone comes in my comments asking where I got my facts from, I already know what’s behind that question. They’re not looking for truth. They’re looking to defend the lie.
But the game has changed.
We don’t need to wait for permission to speak. We don’t need to justify our existence. We’re not asking to be included. We’re building memory back, piece by piece. Channel by channel. Voice by voice.
That is why I am here.
It is what I do.
So if the truth makes people uncomfortable, that’s their problem.
We’re just getting started.
It has gotten to the point where when
I read your words it’s in your voice in my head,😂 Love 💕 every word never allow them to silence/control your voice!
