2. hosting our own social network ... do we have our own data centres or a reliable way of hosting our own platform without being taken down?
3. i deeply appreciate as diaspora light you have shined on the efforts of african leaders and the sentiment or message: there is more coming over the hill
Hey Im A Software Engineer, I recently made a video discussing this topic on youtube-(@jimmychu_):African Stream Closing Due to U.S Pressures - Will the cycle continue?
1: (My Take)
- Hosting the servers for a [PanAfrican Social Media Platform] in Africa is definitely possible.
2: (My Concern)
- What happens when you start to expose the areas where the local African governments are involved in, or things they don't want exposed?
- I believe that African governments would attempt to physically shut you down as well.
3: (My possible solution)
- Build the SM-platform on a decentralized network (possibly blockchain) - but the issue with that would be *Moderation ---> A Decentralized platform would allow for anyone from anywhere to post on the platform. Meaning that your content could be displayed next to a video of something sexually explicit or something gruesome. Which would deter people from wanting to visit the platform.
4: (Biggest Hurdle)
- Convincing people to leave Mainstream Platforms would be quite difficult. In order to attract people to your new platform , you'd have to ensure that creators could earn a decent wage on there. So there would have to be a proper monetization structure. Once that is in place -> The creators would attract people to your platform.
Im Kenyan in the U.S - And I'm planning on moving back soon - I'll definitely look for Ahmed.

The thing about donations is that you have to first ask. As your guest acknowledged, he had a problem with asking.
