Trump Just Banned 7 African Nations But the Data Doesn’t Add Up
My thoughts on the real reason he did this
Donny T has banned seven countries from travelling to the United States. This includes Chad, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Libya, Somalia, the Republic of Congo and Sudan. The interesting thing about this is that, outside of the fact that they are in African geography, they share little in common with differing politics, economies, and security threats.

So why did Trump do this? I mean, finding a reason to his actions isn’t the easiest thing sometimes.
The official reasons given are the usual ones.
Terrorist presence, visa overstays, and poor cooperation in repatriating deportees; however, the data doesn’t support this.
When it comes to visa overstays, these are the facts: Chad (49%), Equatorial Guinea (33%), and Congo (30%) have high overstay rates proportionally, but in absolute numbers, the totals are small at just 5,000 combined in 2023.
By contrast, Jamaica had more than twice that on business and tourist visas alone and yet wasn’t banned. So why always Africa?
Terrorism? Countries like Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso face far worse insurgencies, yet didn’t make the list. That is so strange because the U.S. is engaged in an active smear campaign against those countries.
There’s also an obvious double standard for anyone who scratches the surface.
Many high-income nations, with visa-free access to the U.S., had 98,000+ overstays in 2023 and faced zero consequences.
That is a crazy disproportion.
If this were fair, the U.K. and most of Europe would be banned too. So why did Trump do this? Really?
I believe this has a lot more to do with optics to his voter base than it does with any real attempt to secure the borders. Africans aren’t responsible for the types of crimes that the Latin American immigrants are being blamed for. That in itself is propaganda but the fact remains this is definitely another example of when someone needs to be publicly shamed and punished; it’s the black and African people that get done.
In other news, I put out a series of videos and posts asking whether I should do an in-person event in cities in the U.S. and maybe in London.
While the response was incredibly strong, saying it would be a good idea, many people expressed safety concerns. I didn’t realise there was that much anxiety in the community about gathering as panafricans.
As such, I will listen to my audience and take a step back on this idea. As you are aware, I am working with the IIIH on important projects for the community the world will see what we’ve been doing soon.
