A Perspective Of Africa
One of the most overlooked aspects of Herodotus’s account is how the ancients actually viewed Africa. Herodotus didn’t believe anyone lived south of the Sahara desert because it was deemed too hot and therefore uninhabitable. In fact, the ancients had no idea the peoples of present day Nigeria even existed.
